Ninjump Gets Over 2 Million Downloads in First Week
How do app developers make money? By becoming insanely popular and creating a huge install base, apparently. News today is that Backflip Studios has seen over two million downloads of its free game, Ninjump, in the first week of release. 650,000 people played the game each day, and there have been over ten million game sessions averaging five minutes per play. That’s a lot of gaming. According to website Mobile Entertainment,
Backflip makes its money from a combination of in-game advertising and upselling players to paid versions of the games.
In May, AdMob’s Russell Buckley confirmed that Backflip was making $100,000 a month from using AdMob’s ad units in its games – which he said was half the developer’s monthly revenues.
