Challenging iTunes Connect right from the App Store.

Update: Graphs and additional sales data in the Apps Report will be available in the next appTrends update, due in the next few weeks, according to appTrends developer David Knell.

“Think of appFigures as a painkiller for your awful iTunes Connect headache” reads the blurb for appFigures, a tool that “automatically imports your iTunes Connect reports, baking them into detailed charts and tables you can easily make sense of, and even emails them to you.” This isn’t wishful thinking – it’s what the developers over at Fileitup Media have been working on. And now it’s available to download on the iTunes App Store, thanks to the development of appTrends.

In short, appTrends coupled with appFigures offers a complete way of tracking the progress of your applications, by way of retrieving your iTunes Connect data and running it through various algorithms, presenting the data cleanly and – where ideal – graphically. One feature, aptly called Automagical, automatically downloads your iTunes Connect reports and then sends you an e-mail with a breakdown of profit, downloads, updates totals and ranks preview, every morning.

Instead of picking and choosing data to show, appFigures imports all reports, from daily to monthly to payments, thus avoiding you from having to step into iTunes Connect manually. It’s all right there in the appTrends application, ready for you to view and analyze. Developers can also stay in touch with their consumer base through an in-built function showing all user-submitted reviews of their application, and appFigures have included a translation tool for reviews published in foreign languages. Impressively, an in-app tracking system scans all ‘top 400′ lists across all 90 app stores, every hour, to provide you with complete and up-to-date rank information. In addition, the application supports iAd tracking, multiple application comparisons and in-app purchases information.

Setting aside the features aspect, there are a number of “convenience” elements that appFigures offer, including currency conversions, unlimited number of applications to track and a secure “multi-user access” platform that restricts what users can see. All data is stored locally in servers located in downtown NYC (no clouds), and everything transferred is done so over a 128-bit SSL encryption. Privacy is key.

The price for all of this? appFigures offer three packages, the most basic one of which is absolutely free, albeit with a few limitations (reviews and rankings not available, nor is automatic report downloading). Link up to five applications, 2 iTunes connect accounts and 25 events. Alternatively, for $4.99 a month (Premium package), you’ll get everything written above for two applications, with options to expand this for $1.49 per additional application per month. For the more monopolistic developers, a Publisher package starting at $139 per month allows you to hook up between 100 and 250 applications with all the features that the Premium package contains. appFigures can support over 1000 applications from a single account, depending on how much you’re willing to shell out. A free, non-committing 14-day trial exists for the Premium and Publisher packages. There are no long contracts to commit to either, it’s a 30-day rolling contract which can be cancelled any time.

The appTrends application, that allows you to get all of this goodness on your iPhone, costs $1.99. The pains of iTunes Connect could now be a thing of the past.

The company’s partners are focused on driving implementation of Flurry’s award-winning analytics services within the rapidly growing mobile applications market. Inaugural companies joining Flurry’s Partner Program include Atimi, Five Mobile, and MobileCDN.

Flurry’s Partner Program provides contracted software development firms the unparalleled ability to communicate performance and usage insights to their clients. With Flurry analytics data, development companies can monitor, identify and assess future development opportunities to grow a client’s mobile application business. Flurry offers channel partner revenue share possibilities, technical support and joint marketing.

“Our channel program is a win-win for mobile development companies and the clients for whom they build mobile applications,” said Sean Galligan, Flurry vice president of business development. “Gaining insight into exactly how consumers use their iPhone, Android and BlackBerry applications provides established brands with a competitive advantage on new platforms, while providing contracted developers the ability to adjust, improve and report performance for their clients.”

With over 9,000 developers already signed up for its free analytics service since launching in January of this year, and over 40 million reporting agents, Flurry Analytics is fast becoming the standard in mobile application analytics. Each week Flurry tracks detailed application usage on over eight million consumers’ handsets across iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and JavaME. As major media, video game and web services companies rush to establish a presence in the exploding smart phone application market, the need to turn to third party developer support as well as measure their performance has never been greater.

“Flurry Analytics has become a standard part of our proposal to household media brands approaching Atimi to build winning iPhone applications,” said Scott Michaels, vice president at Atimi Software Inc. “Flurry Analytics enables Atimi to gather much needed, highly relevant feedback to make rapid improvements to applications and increase success for our clients.
Majic Rank 1.3 adds historical graphing to this fantastic, free, application to track your apps position in any of the top 100 lists.

David Frampton from Majic Jungle, developers of Chopper which we recently wrote about, has released an update to his free Mac OS X application, MajicRank.

MajicRank is an application that lets users check the position of one or multiple apps in the top 100 lists in all regional app stores. You can specify both the Top 100 overall and up to three categories for the app to check. MajicRank can be set to either the check just the big 8 countries or all available app store countries. You can modify this in the application preferences.

Even though most people will use this app to just track their applications, it makes a great tool to keep track of competing applications as well. You can put in as many application IDs as you wish, use this to track both your applications and applications you want to keep an eye on.

This update adds a new major feature that will be very useful over time. The ability to track the history of the apps specified over time. Once you have a few days available, you can switch the app display to graph from table to see the history graph (example above). There are a couple caveats to this history graph feature though. For the history graph to be complete you must run this application at least once per day to allow it to grab the needed data. Also, when you first launch and configure the app there will be no historical data available for the applications you specify. This will only come with multiple days of running MajicRank.

Here’s a list of the features that this version, 1.3 adds:

Adds historical graphs

Stores all archives by AppID

Reduces file size of stored archives

Allows entering AppID with search preference over name

Auto detects and fills in app ID when app name is entered

Allows re-ordering of apps list

Fixed a bug where deleting an app while editing it’s title caused a hang

About box allows resizing, should now be viewable on low-res displays

Adds latest date run to status text when update is complete

The application, which is available for download here (Mac OS X only) has already proven to be very useful to developers. This version makes it even more so. More details on the app are available on the MajicRank page.
