Whitethorn Games combines two completely different pastimes in Skate Fish

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 28th, 2024

If you have ever gone fishing then you know that it is a lesson in patience, sitting around waiting for a bite that may never come. Well, that's because you have been doing it wrong, since as Whitehorn Games now demonstrates in new release Skate Fish, the only way to catch a fish is with sick skateboarding tricks.

Indeed it is that combination you never knew you needed; Tony Hawk Pro Skater meets Fishing Planet, for the only way to land a fish in this world is by impressing them with your epic tricks. Using a two-finger touch control reminiscent of those old finger decks, you can land your prey with a variety of tricks.

Call of Duty Warzone is a Waiting Simulator

Posted by Campbell Bird on March 27th, 2024
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

It's always fun when a splashy multiplayer game comes to mobile because they are few and far between, so I was excited to see the notification about Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile (finally) launching last week and wanted to try it out. As someone who was familiar with the PC version of the game, I thought I had a good sense of what to expect, but I was surprised to find myself quickly bored with the mobilized battle royale.

To be clear, Warzone Mobile doesn't seem to do anything drastically different than its console and PC counterpart. In fact, it retains its high player count, boasting now to be the mobile battle royale with the highest amount of live players per match. It also retains all of the features that distinguish the Call of Duty-branded battle royale apart from the others. So, I guess what I'm saying is that before you read on, know that if you are just interested in knowing how much Warzone Mobile is like Warzone, the answer is very.

Albion Online introduces some massive new updates to its Guild content

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 27th, 2024

Sandbox Interactive has announced an upcoming update to its flagship MMORPG Albion Online, containing massive updates to its existing guild Vs guild systems. Someone clearly rewatched the Helms Deep battle in Lord of the Rings and spent the next few days furiously coding, because sieges are about to get much bigger starting April 15th.

Kicking off we have the introduction of Fortifications, which does pretty much what you expect. If your guild holds any territory then you are going to want to spend some resources to put up defences to make them a bit harder to raid or conquer. Harder, but not impossible, because we also have a new way to attack.

Chucklefish announces launch date of their roguelike deck builder Wildfrost for mobile

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 26th, 2024

Chucklefish, the indie London-based team we probably all know from developing Terraria or their stint publishing Stardew Valley, has revealed the mobile release date for roguelike deck-builder Wildfrost. Developed by Gaziter and Deadpan Games, the sun has frozen over, and the world is in peril.

Wrap up warm as you will find yourself in a barren, frozen landscape, armed only with a deck of cards as you venture forth to try to reclaim this world that the titular Wildfrost has overtaken by reaching the Sun Temple. The only thing stopping this icy menace from engulfing all is the small village of Snowdwell and its hardy inhabitants.

Netmarble opens pre-registration for action RPG anime adaption Solo Leveling: Arise

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 25th, 2024

It has been close to three years since Netmarble announced they would be adapting the smash series Solo Leveling into a video game, and at last, they have announced the opening of pre-orders for Solo Leveling: Arise.

Solo Leveling follows the story of Jinwoo, a hunter barely worthy of the title. One day, he and his fellow fighters were taking on an incredibly powerful double dungeon that almost kills them all, until Jinwoo is the sole human chosen to receive the ability to level up his power, setting him on course for greatness.

PUBG Mobile celebrates sixth anniversary by drafting in viral song maker JVKE

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 22nd, 2024

For the past six years, PUBG Mobile has been one of the most popular shooters you can play in the palm of your hand, and Krafton is celebrating this milestone and many years of ups by teaming up with hit music man JVKE to create a special song for the occasion.

The result of this collaboration of champions is titled clouds, without capitalisation, I presume to provoke the rage you get from being spawn camped in the game. It serves as both JVKE’s new single and the theme for PUBG Mobile’s sixth anniversary, although it is oddly a quiet, slower-paced tune than you'd picture from a shooter.

ASTRA: Knights of Veda refuse to pump the brakes on the hype train as they release a second collaboration with Seventeen

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 21st, 2024

In perhaps the most recent example of being incredibly eager, ASTRA: Knights of Veda has dropped its second collaboration with South Korean boyband Seventeen, named so as it consists of exactly thirteen members and a video collaboration with Lee Na Gyung of fromis_9.

The audio and visual aspects also go hand in hand in hand with gaming, so it’s nice to get a few treats in these categories. Seunkwan of Seventeen has released an OST titled Lonely Stars, an acoustic guitar and piano-backed melody recorded in Korean, Japanese, and English, following bandmate Hoshi’s release earlier this month.

Backbone complete its lineup of 2nd Generation products with the arrival of the updated Lightning controllers

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 19th, 2024

With all the ports of big AAA games that have been coming to mobile, it is becoming more convenient than ever to own a good controller, and to help with this Backbone has announced the completion of their 2nd generation product lineup with their Lighting connection counterparts.

At this point I am sure we have all heard of Backbone, they make some pretty decent hardware that is shaped like the standard console controller for that familiar feel. Style-wise it seems that the 2nd generation hasn’t changed much, but inside there have been some innovations.

Zenless Zone Zero opens entries for its next round of Beta Testers

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 18th, 2024

miHoYo, aka HoYoverse, has become such a big name in mobile gaming that it's hard to believe that arguably their flagship title, Genshin Impact, is only three and a half years old. Now, they continue the road to the next title in their world, with Zenless Zone Zero gearing up for another round of beta testing.

Zenless Zone Zero, as well as being a title I struggle to say without getting tongue-tied, is an urban fantasy ARPG, set in a world destroyed by a supernatural disaster called the Hollows. The remaining dregs of humanity create the city of New Eridu, and now you, a Proxy, rise to make your mark in this dark history.

Warframe welcomes the arrival of a new soldier and the return of a beloved community program

Posted by Shaun Walton on March 15th, 2024

As a Warframe player one of the best things about it launching on iOS, despite it being arguably the best way to play the game if you have a controller, is that I can now be paid to talk about it. To whit, we are gearing up to receive the first Warframe addition of the year on March 27th.

Our upcoming Warframe arrival goes by the name of Dante. Once an academic confidant of the Entrati family, Dante was relentless in their pursuit of knowledge. One day, they stumbled upon an artefact known only as The Book, and upon reading, found themselves infected with wrongtounged words, leading to their disappearance. That is, until today.
